A commercial building in a town-centre block, with a row of glazed skylights, rooftop plant and several roof levels. Roofs like this are mostly detailing: every skylight, pipe and change of level has to be sealed into the membrane.

  • Skylight upstands and frames detailed
  • Plant and pipe penetrations flashed
  • Edges and parapets terminated

TPO Membrane Gutter and Parapet Lining, Auckland

A coastal Auckland property where the box gutter and parapet detail were relined in white TPO membrane. Gutters are where most flat roofs fail first, so the membrane was welded as a continuous run and carried up the parapet walls rather than being joined at the corners.

Scope of work

  • Strip out and preparation of the existing gutter line
  • TPO membrane laid and hot-air welded through the gutter run
  • Membrane dressed up the parapet walls and terminated at the edges
  • Outlets and corners detailed to keep water moving to the downpipes

Large-Area TPO Membrane Roof

A large single-plane roof finished in TPO membrane, installed while the building was enclosed under a temporary scaffold roof. Big open areas like this suit TPO well: the sheets come in wide rolls, so there are fewer seams to weld and fewer places for water to find a way in.

Scope of work

  • Substrate checked and prepared across the full roof area
  • TPO membrane rolled out, aligned and mechanically held down
  • All laps hot-air welded and probe-checked
  • Penetrations, upstands and edges flashed and sealed

Liquid Membrane Applied Over an Existing TPO Roof

Where an existing membrane is still structurally sound but the surface and details need attention, a liquid applied membrane can be taken over the top. It cures into one continuous layer with no joins, which suits roofs with a lot of small details.

Scope of work

  • Existing TPO surface cleaned and assessed
  • Detail areas and problem seams treated first
  • Liquid membrane applied over the prepared surface
  • Seamless finish carried across upstands and penetrations

Commercial Butynol Roof Replacement

Butynol Roof Replacement

An aged flat roof replaced with a new Butynol membrane. Where a roof has reached the end of its life, replacing the membrane is usually more economical over time than repeatedly patching it.
